First, to know the preparation and protective measures before wading

When a car is wading, it is necessary to carefully examine the depth, velocity, and nature of the water, as well as the width of the water entering and exiting the road and the road conditions, to determine whether it can be safely passed.

When confirming that the structure of the car that you are driving can pass, you should generally select the section that has the shortest distance, the shallowest water level, slow water flow, and the most solid bottom.

The maximum wading depths of common models are the following: heavy-duty trucks are 100 to 120 cm, ordinary large trucks are 45 to 80 cm, off-road jeep is 60 cm, and minibuses cannot exceed 40 cm. If the water depth exceeds the maximum wading depth of the wheel or car, it is not advisable to venture into the water.

If for some reason there is no need to wading, the driver should take the following series of waterproof measures:

1. Remove the fan belt. If it is a motor type, you can unplug the motor cable plug and hang the thread head high; some models also need to close the blinds of the water tank;

2. Use tarpaulin or plastic bag to wrap the distributor, high voltage wire, ignition coil, etc., and try to increase the position of the battery (such as in the cab or cabin);

3. If conditional, find a hose over the tail of the exhaust pipe and bend it up above the water to prevent water from entering the exhaust pipe;

4. Filling the oil tank, the oil gauge hole and the engine, and other vent holes on the drive axle should be blocked with waterproof material;

5. If the water level is close to the maximum wading depth of the car, a wider plank should be bundled on the front bumper, and then the medium speed gear should be used to drive the water in front of the car to be pushed open by the wood to form a shallow water area in the engine area. The ignition system is soaked in water and loses its function;

6. When possible, try to increase the weight of the car to reduce the buoyancy effect of the water on the car and increase the adhesion of the wheels so as to maintain the stability of the vehicle wading.

Second, the operation method and precautions when knowing the wading

1. When the vehicle is wading, ensure that the engine is running normally and that steering and braking mechanisms are sensitive and reliable. A low gear should be hung up into the water, avoiding the big throttle or rushing to prevent the spray from splashing into the engine and turning off.

2. To stabilize the throttle while driving, keep the car with sufficient and stable motive force, and stop the midway stopping, shifting or making a sharp turn as much as possible. Especially when the underwater road is sediment, pay attention to this point;

3. If there is quicksand on the bottom of the water and the wheels are idling, you should immediately stop the vehicle. You can't barely advance or retreat, nor can you slam on the accelerator pedal in a semi-joint manner. Should maintain the engine does not turn off the circumstances, the organization of human or other vehicles to push, drag out the car, to avoid deeper and deeper;

4. In the march, we must look at the distance and try to look at the fixed target in the distance. Hold the steering wheel straight with both hands. 5. When wading through multiple vehicles, water must not be allowed to enter the other side at the same time. After the vehicle arrives at the other side of the river, the vehicle behind it should be allowed to enter the water to prevent the vehicle from stopping due to a fault and forcing the vehicle to stop in the water, causing a dilemma.

6. When passing through a flooded road or a diffuse bridge, it should pass at a constant speed through a fixed route. If the situation of the road surface or bridge surface is not clear after flooding, it is necessary to first ascertain whether the damage has occurred, resulting in a collapse, a gap or collapse. Otherwise, it may easily cause a rollover.

Third, know the safety inspection after wading

1. After wading in the car, choose a wide and safe place to stop, remove the waterproof wrapper, check if the engine ignition system is wet, and use a dry cloth to wipe off the wet electrical parts to prevent short circuit or open circuit;

2. Install the fan belt, put the battery back to its original position, remove the plastic hose and other waterproof material at the tail of the exhaust pipe;

4. The engine should be started to allow the engine to idle for a few minutes before reaching normal temperature and drying the water and moisture on the engine. After confirming that the vehicle technology is in good condition, first travel at a low speed for a while, and consciously lightly step on the brake pedal several times to allow the brake shoe to contact the brake hub to generate frictional heat to dry and evaporate the residual moisture in the brake to ensure braking.
